The Rice Purity Test has been a college tradition for decades. We built this site because the original deserved a home that felt as relevant today as the test itself has always been. No registration, no tracking, no nonsense. Just the test, done right.
Where It All Started
The Rice Purity Test originated at Rice University in Houston, Texas sometime in the 1980s. It was created by students as a way for incoming freshmen to get to know each other during orientation week, or what Rice calls O-week. The idea was simple enough: a list of questions covering romantic experiences, social situations, and life choices that you answered honestly and then compared with others around you.
What started as a campus bonding exercise became something much larger over time. As it spread from dorm to dorm and eventually across the internet, the test took on a life of its own. Today millions of people from all over the world take it every year, and it has become one of the most recognized self-assessment quizzes on the web.
The original version was printed on paper and passed around physically. Our version honors that same spirit while making the experience smoother, faster, and actually enjoyable to complete in 2024.
The Test Deserved Better
If you've ever looked at other versions of this test online, you already know the problem. Most of them look like they were built in 2003 and never touched again. Cluttered pages, confusing layouts, slow loading times, and designs that make the whole thing feel less fun than it should be.
We thought the Rice Purity Test deserved something better. A clean, modern experience that gets out of the way and lets the test do what it was always meant to do: give you an honest look at where you stand, maybe make you laugh a little, and give you something interesting to compare with your friends.

What We Believe
This test is meant to be fun. It is not a judgment, not a moral scorecard, and certainly not something to take too seriously. A high score does not make you a better person and a low score does not make you a worse one. It is simply a snapshot of your experiences at this point in your life.
We have kept the original 100 questions exactly as they were written, organized into clear categories so the progression feels natural as you go through them. The score calculation is completely transparent and happens entirely in your browser the moment you click submit.
